Survival Part 1
It was clearly evident that we all still held possession of
our powers, the very things that made us so special to Lettium in the first
place. They were powerful, however that’s what this room was designed for;
keeping whatever is locked away inside at all costs.
The pain that they all felt from the loss of their friends
was something that could be compared to hell. The group sat around the room
clutching at the glass walls, Mitch closed his eyes “what are you doing?” asked
Lena “I’m getting us out of here” he exhaled. For the first time since hyper
sleep, Mitch was going to try and use his abilities, from what he knew from his
life in Bon Temps they were extremely powerful and not even the great Man In The Suit could compete.
The lights then shut off, it was sudden and unexplainable.
The group thought Mitchell had something to do with it, but in fact he had done
nothing. “What’s happening?” Mitch said as the door slid open sounding like
someone was cracking a Cola on a hot day. Ashley poked her head out into the
hallway “it’s clear” she told the group.
The fact that the power just all of a sudden failed at that
very moment seamed too suspicious, but they weren’t going to waste time asking
questions, they took the opportunity for what it was, chance. The hallway was
dark, but just lit enough from the back up generator. A soldier then opened the
door to investigate; this is when Jordan took the opportunity to feed. The
hunger Jordan was feeling is compared to when you would forget to eat during
the day, and then without notice you are plagued with such an intense feeling
of hunger that you feel like you could pass out, well that’s how he explained
it. When he realized he was still a vampire, this is when the hunger came, it
was like his body was reminding him that he needed to feed, or he might have
fed on someone or something he would regret.
Jordan was griping tightly on Lena’s hand, leading the way
as if he were suddenly protective of her. Let’s not forget that in Bon Temps,
Jordan and Lena were once a couple, the feelings for her came rushing back when
Warren died, not in a spiteful way but more in a “she needs me” kind of way. His
love for her was once strong enough for him to ultimately give up his life for
power (Dave taking his human life and replacing it with a vampire life) so that
he could fight for Lena’s hand in the way he thought she would want. This was
his second chance; he thanks Warren for this in some way. Jordan would never be
able to conceive a child with Lena due to the fact that he was a blood-sucking
vampire; Warren was the one who truly gave him the chance to have a child. This
is assuming of course that the baby is even Warren’s, he was the father in Bon
Temps but now, nothing was certain.
3 more soldiers had joined the group in the hallway only to
be killed by Rachel and her trusty pistol, which she picked up from the
previous (drained) soldier who Jordan had for lunch. Rachel peeked through a
small glass window of a big door, they could hear movement inside and Rachel
confirmed that there were people inside, a few scientists. “We need answers”
she said as she kicked the door open. Holding the man and woman at gunpoint
seemed to work, their hands were in the air and they looked truly terrified
“Ashley?” the woman said as she looked into her eyes as if they were once
friends “do I know you?” Ashley politely asked. The woman then pointed over at
the wall where there were several pictures hanging. Amongst the photos was
Ashley. She slowly walked toward the wall “what is this? Did I work for you
people?” she asked, “yes” the woman said “You worked with us, we had no idea
what this place was when they recruited us. Once they figured out what you were
they took you” the woman added, “I’m Sandra, this is Sawyer”. “Well, what am
I?” Ashley asked “It’s not what you are, it’s where you came from” replied
Sandra “here, take this” she said as she handed over the book they had been
carrying around, apparently it had been turned over to Sandra and Sawyer when
the group was captured “all the answers of who you truly are lye in this book”.
Ashley gripped onto the book, she turned to her friends “I
say we burn it” she said. This surprised the group, they figured Ashley would
want to know what she was, not only that, the book held information on all of
them “this book and whatever’s in it won’t change the fact hat we’re a family”
she shouted while she tossed it onto the floor “I’m assuming this is flammable”
she said as she grabbed a test tube of whiskey colored fluid from the desk and
poured it on the book. “Do it” said Mitch. Ashley did just that, she dropped a
matchstick on the book, igniting it in flames.
Sandra and Sawyer had convinced the group that there is some
sort of rebel group that work on Lettium, but secretly work against them. Curtis
holds great power over the people on the ship; they want something that he can
provide for them, protection. When the creatures took over earth, Curtis
disappeared to space. The threat on earth causes them to search out powerful
weapons, people with super human abilities. Curtis wanted to study the powers,
multiply them and eventually mass-produce them. He would have the one thing
everybody wanted, which would make him the most powerful man on earth. “You
promise people safety and power, they will do anything” said Sandra.
Just as if he was cued, Curtis came bursting through the
door. He scanned the room to assess the situation and it was almost as if he
took a moment to decide whether or not he could win this fight “I’m beginning
to get so sick of you all” he murmured “likewise” Kyle yelled back at him. Kyle
closed his eyes; the group knew what he was trying to do. You knew he was about
to shift when his facial expression looked as if he was being shocked by an electric
fence. The group had scene snakes, birds and even a cougar, what’s next? Everyone wondered. Kyle
shifted much faster this time; in an instant he had morphed into a large hoofed
animal “a reindeer?” the scientist, Sandra whispered from across the room. Kyle
then charged at Curtis and his group of randoms that were blocking the doorway.
Mitchell knew Kyle had bought them some time, so he flipped
the large steel table onto it’s side and ducked behind it with his friends.
Sandra was tucked away in the corner with her arms wrapped around her knees.
Sawyer however was making the group nervous “how do we get out of here?” yelled
Mitchell. This was the moment he knew Sawyer was not planning on helping the
group, he was clearly not part of the “rebel group” Sandra was talking about,
or maybe he was just trying to impress Curtis and get into his good books.
Either way, he had no idea who he was messing with. Mitchell pressed his back
firmly against the table and motioned his hands in the direction of Sawyer who
was crawling toward them with a gun in hand “I don’t think so” Mitchell’s voice
tensed with the use of his power’s, the first time he’d used them since he had
awoken. He had to admit, he was glad to have them once again.
“LADY, YOU HAVE TO HELP US” yelled Lena who was in a tight
handgrip with her friend Ashley. They were desperately trying to find a way out
and they knew Sandra had to know of an exit. Mitchell and Jordan had joined the
fight; several armed guards accompanied Curtis for his ‘hide and seek’ moment
when he came across the group. Lena heard a loud cracking noise, she peeked her
head over the table to see Jordan leaping from person to person-snapping necks
and taking names. It excited Lena to know Jordan could protect her like that,
it gave her hope.
Rachel stood from behind the table and she instantly took
bullet in the stomach, yes it hurt but when you’re so used to feeling pain like
that after a while you become numb to it. She let out a gasp and then held
firmly with both hands onto her wound. Her hair draped over her face as she
made crying noises, the guard thought he had won. Rachel then lifted her hand
“I’ve seen worse” she threatened. Her body spitting out the bullet and healing
through the bloody hole that the shot left in her shirt distracted the guard.
Rachel took this opportunity to toss a test tube full of greenish yellow liquid
at the mans face. She had no idea what it was or what it would do to him, but
she took a chance that it might be poisonous or acidic. When his eyes started
pouring out white bubbles she assumed she guessed right.
“THIS WAY” Sandra finally stopped panicking and jumped from
her cozy corner. She ran to the other end of the room and pushed through
several tall carts smothered in test tubes. Behind them was a door “COME ON!”
the crazy woman yelled. They had no reason to trust Sandra, but at least she
didn’t try to kill them. Ashley looked Lena in the eyes “ready?” she whispered
“I gotchya, don’t worry” she added. The two girls did a mental countdown in
there heads and then they ran to the exit. The girls reached the other side as
they turned to their friends; Rachel had run and joined their side. “BOYS THIS
WAY” Ashley yelled. Jordan looked up, blood pouring from his mouth he spits out
an ear, a human ear. Mitchell and Jordan caught up with the group “wait, I need
to get Kyle” Mitch said turning back around and courteously stepping over the
dead guards.
Mitch peeked his head out of the door to see that Curtis had
gone, but he left Kyle behind. He was naked, lying in a pool of his own blood.
Mitch ran to him “Kyle” he whispered, “What did he do to you?” Mitchell asked
awaiting a response, but it was too late. Kyle was dead; the blood was coming
from a hole in his chest and another on his lower back. “I’m so sorry”
whispered Mitchell as he leant down to kiss him on the forehead. They had lost
another, someone they all loved very much. Mitchell knew this wouldn’t be easy
to break to the group. He slowly stumbled back into the room where his friends
were awaiting his return. Mitch kept wondering why Curtis had left; maybe he
went to get back up, this thought calmed Mitchell because maybe he knew he
couldn’t win. Mitchell told the group about their fallen comrade, the group
wept for Kyle, he was always such a happy man, someone that was often taken
advantage of because of it but he had a big heart and he would be remembered as
a hero.
Curtis had left them, but they knew he would return so they
wasted no time. Sandra swore she had a way off the ship and demanded that they
follow her. She led them to a big door that had a number code keeping it
locked. Sandra typed in the password and took the group inside. A giant tank
was in the center of the room, and inside the tank there was a Critter being
preserved. This one was like nothing they had ever seen before, it had to be
triple the size of what they were used too. The creature was floating
peacefully in the tank while it was hooked up to several cords, much like the
ones Lettium had on them “do you think it’s in hyper sleep too? Just like we
were?” Lena asked “yes” Sandra added “this particular Blood Drifter has been my
personal project since I was employed by Lettium” “and you’ve done such a great
job, I would hate for your study’s to be cut short” a voice said from behind
them.
They were surrounded, Curtis brought back up. He was joined
by Dayna, Logan, and Dave and to everyone’s surprise Jessica Burns was with
them. Sawyer was whimpering away behind a couple of guards, it was clear he had
told them where we went. Apparently Mitchell’s blast wasn’t strong enough to
squash that cockroach. “LISTEN UP” yelled Curtis “either you come with us
willingly or we kill you right here and now, simple as that” he stood waiting
for us to start walking in his direction and join there band of murderous
psycho’s.
Lena was suddenly blessed with an amazing idea, she knew it
would be a risk but anything was better then spending the rest of their lives
as a living science room sample. She turned and grabbed a large metal steak
that was lying on the ground as if it was begging to be used. She tossed it as
hard as she could at the glass tank that was holding the extremely large
Critter, smashing it open with one hit. The water swept them away, smashing
their bodies against the wall. The creature hit the ground and carried away
with the water tearing its cords away from it’s body. A few lingering moments
of silence sat in the large, now soaking wet room. The creatures eye began to
open “SHOOT IT” yelled Curtis “that would be a mistake” whispered Sandra as a
few shots were fired into it’s tough reptile like skin and if anything, this
just awakened it more, and this thing was pissed.
It tore away, person by person at the large group of guards.
Curtis was thrown across the room smashing his head against a metal railing.
Dayna ran at Lena who was trying to help Ashley up from the ground. She tackled
her to the ground wrapping her hands around her neck. Lena was beginning to
loose color in her face and her lips were turning a dark ‘fresh blood’ color.
Ashley then picked up a large piece of glass from the floor that was
conveniently provided to her by the broken tank. Ashley gripped the edges
firmly with two hands, she knew this was going to hurt and at this moment she
could only dream of having Rachel’s powers. She wasted no time, jabbing the
shard of jagged glass into the back of Dayna’s neck. Her grip was immediately
released from Lena’s neck as she fell to the floor, the water around her was
mixed with, there was that color again, ‘fresh blood’.
Jordan could see that Sawyer was hiding underneath a couple
of the dead guards, Jordan had no sympathy “don’t start fights you can’t
finish” he always said. Jordan raced over to Sawyer throwing the bodies across
the room; he picked him up by the caller of his shirt and shot out his fangs
“PLEASE DON’T EAT ME!” Sawyer yelled “I’m full” replied Jordan as he tossed
Sawyer in the Critter’s path of distraction. He lasted not 3 seconds before he
was torn into pieces by the creature’s sharp claws.
Logan felt as if he needed to protect Curtis, that’s why he
stopped Mitchell as he attempted to go finish Curtis off. Logan pointed his
pistol at the back of Mitchell’s head and fired, but the bullet froze in mid
air and Mitchell turned to greet who was on the other end of the trigger “ahh
brother” he whispered “oh wait, that was all a lie. I have no idea who you are”
Mitchell was keeping Logan’s body completely still using his abilities “I can’t
even look at you anymore” Mitchell began slowly turning his hand, and the
bullet was turning it’s direction of travel “I should have left you in
Faetasia” he whispered as he let go of his hold on the bullet, it flew directly
through Logan’s skull.
Mitchell then turned to continue his pursuit toward an
injured Curtis, but I guess Curtis had the same idea as he was standing
directly behind him when he turned around. Curtis lunged at Mitchell with a
large knife “I CALL THE SHOTS HERE!” Curtis yelled as he tackled him to the
ground. Curtis had a jump-start, Mitchell wasn’t ready and the knife went into
his shoulder. He let out a loud deep scream when he yanked it out. Mitchell was
weak, his powers were hard to grasp “I’m gunna kill you, and then I’m gunna
kill your friends and then I’m gunna kill her, and I’ll make it slow and
painful, just like I did in Bon Temps” Curtis snarled at Mitchell “YOU LIKE
SLOW AND PAINFUL?” Rachel screamed from behind them as she jabbed a large metal
stake through Curtis’ chest. Curtis looked down at the pole sticking from his
body “but……but I own you” he choked “not anymore” Rachel said as she kicked the
stake in deeper “lights out” she added as he hit the floor, face first, dead.
