Critter Volume 4 Chapter 7 : The Hardest Thing

The Hardest Thing

Normally, when someone is put into hyper sleep you can monitor his or her brain activity once they enter the dream state. Warren was taking longer than usual to respond, “what’s wrong?” Lena asked after she saw what seemed to be a concerned look on Natasha’s face “it’s just that…” she stuttered “IT’S JUST THAT WHAT NATASHA!?” Lena screamed back “there’s nothing, he’s showing no signs of activity. It’s as if Bon Temps is no longer there” explained Natasha. Lena pushed past the group to throw herself at Warren’s lifeless body. She screamed his name, telling him to wake up but nothing was happening. Everyone stood by in awe, they had no idea how to react. “I CAN’T WATCH YOU DIE TWICE, I JUST CAN’T!” Lena sobbed while her head was buried into his chest.

Natasha was Warren’s right hand gal when it came to operating these machines. The two of them had been out of Bon Temps the longest and have spent loads of time together trying to crack the system and at the same time, hide in Lettium’s ship desperately trying to find a way to wake up their friends. Mitchell pulled Natasha aside “there has to be some other way to wake him up, right?” asked Mitch “I wish there was, but at this point there’s no one to wake up” she said. Lena overheard what was said “so what you’re saying is that when we sent him in there, essentially we were killing him?” Lena asked with puffy red eyes “I’m sorry, Lena” whispered Natasha “he’s gone” she added.

Lena stood away from Warren’s body “our file said that we were a couple before Bon Temps, they took both of us and put us in a world where we didn’t know one another at all, and we were still able to find each other and fall for each other all over again” Lena’s legs were shaking “this has been the biggest fight of our lives” she said as she looked around at the remaining survivors “and I’m not about to give up, this baby deserves a chance” she said as she rubbed her belly “we need to get Rachel, and get the fuck out of here” she yelled. “Warren was a hero” yelled Kelly “he saved us all, at one time or another. He changed my life for the better. He picked me up when I was nothing but dirt and he turned me into something to be proud of” she added. Kelly walked toward Lena “we owe it to him, we need to be free of this” she said as the two of them walked away, looking back at the man that changed their lives and knowing that they would never get another chance to say “thank you” whispered Kelly.

Warren was gone, leaving Natasha, Traci and Chris to be the most knowledgeable of the ship they had recently resided upon. Kyle, Kelly, Clayton, Jason, Jordan, Ashley and Mitchell stared at them like they were waiting for direction. Lena kept it together as much as she could; she placed a blanket over Warren’s body, kissed his forehead and walked out of the room. “What now, huh?” asked Kelly “how do we get Rachel back?” she asked “first we need to see if she’s even awake, if Bon Temps is gone, she might have went with it. We need to get back to that room” said Traci. The group knew the room she was talking about, the one they all woke up in together.

“There’s escape pods all over the south end of the ship, we will take them to escape back to earth” yelled Chris “I thought earth was covered in those things?” asked Kyle “It’s all we have left, we don’t have a ship, so if we want any chance of surviving this we need to leave” he said “whatever we face on earth, we can face it together…. after all we’re a powerful bunch” he explained. The group was currently taking refuge near the bottom of the ship, they had to make their way back up in order to find Rachel and get to the escape pods. Chris lead the way down a dark tunnel that would take the group to the warehouse where they weld parts for the ship. Once they got there, it would give them direct access to the main floor where they could make their escape. It all seemed so easy.

The group came to the end of the tunnel that lead to what looked like a giant garbage shoot “where does that lead?” asked Mitchell “this is where they drop all their waste, it falls to the bottom and they release it into space, kind of like a giant toilet” explained Chris “you don’t want to fall down there” he stressed “but this is our way up” he explained. An old rickety latter went up the entire thing “up one more level, is our warehouse where we can go get Rachel” he said “follow me, one by one and please be careful” Chris explained.

Once Chris got to the top he helped everyone else up, the group hid behind a giant pile of scrap metal. He was directing them to an elevator that was close by. The first one to run to the elevator was Ashley, and then Mitchell followed. Chris then pulled up Lena and then Kyle and they both ran to the elevator. Traci was next, followed by Natasha. Natasha came out from the shoot and stumbled, she stepped on a piece of metal, which made a loud noise that echoed throughout the room. They caught the attention of a group of guards standing near by “IT’S THEM!” one of the guards yelled. They began firing at the group. A bullet tore through the pile of scraps and went through Natasha’s head, she hit the ground dead. Traci let out a scream and ran toward the elevator, she too was shot and killed.

Chris looked down as Clayton, Kelly and Jason who were still hanging onto the latter “GO BACK!” he yelled to them “GO!” he yelled again. In the hopes of protecting his sister, Clayton made them return to the floor below them. Chris knew the armed men were fast approaching so he took a leap of faith and ran toward the elevator. Shots were fired, but the adrenaline carried him to the door just in time “SHUT IT!” he yelled “what about the others” yelled Mitchell “they went back, we need to go, NOW!” Chris slammed his fist down on the close button, and the elevator began going up. Kyle, Ashley, Mitchell, Lena and Jordan stood around the elevator staring at Chris “man, I think you’ve been shot” Jordan stated. Chris felt the blood pouring out of his side “oh fuck” it was then that the alarm began sounding, they knew we were on the move.

Clayton, Kelly and Jason returned to the bottom “WHAT NOW!?” yelled Kelly “Jason, you’ve been here longer. There has to be another way up” he yelled desperately. Jason ran his fingers through his hair trying to think of a solution “Clay, did you see if anyone got shot?” a concerned Kelly asked “I don’t think anyone made it” he replied “I saw blood splatter, and I heard screaming and then Chris told us to go back”
“I GOT IT” yelled Jason “I remember Warren talking about another exit near by, he said he wasn’t sure if it was accessible, but I remember how to get in” he said “we have to go down there” he pointed down the garbage shoot “at the bottom, there is an emergency exit, it leads to all the major areas of the ship” he explained “well, what are we waiting for” Clayton said as he walked back to the latter and began climbing down.

When the elevator came to a stop, they all wondered what would be on the other side, and as the doors slid open they thought it was the end for them all, as Curtis stood in the entry way along side Dayna and a group of armed guards “I told you we would meet again” he said as he peered into Mitchell’s eyes “you’re the man in the suit” he whispered “correct” Curtis said as he hand gestured the guards to take them away. They were dragged down a porcelain white hallway where they came across a large glass door. Curtis placed his hand upon a scanner “I think you will all be comfortable here until I need you again” he said as the guards threw them all inside “not him, Chris can go to the lab” Curtis whispered to the guard who was carrying a drowsy and bloody Chris “NO!” yelled Mitchell as the glass door shut. Mitchell pounded on the glass door as he watched Chris being dragged away; the chaos was suddenly interrupted by a friendly voice “guys?” Rachel came walking towards them from a dark corner “you’re alive?” she whispered. The group met her with a hug “we’re all that’s left” Mitchell explained. Rachel was happy to see her friends, but was surprised at how few of them were left.

When Clayton reached the bottom, he looked up to see his sister and Jason were not far behind him. He was standing o a staircase that lead straight to a door, a few feet below them was a bunch of scrap metal, old parts and waste. Suddenly a timer began ticking away, 30 seconds on the clock “HURRY!” Clayton yelled “THIS  THING IS GUNNA OPEN IN 30 SECONDS” Kelly and Jason raced to the bottom and began running toward the door. They slid open the large piece of metal that holds it closed and they ran through the door, closing it just in time. They could hear a loud suction noise from the other side of the door “that was close” said Kelly. The three of them followed the dimly lit pathway, not really knowing where it leads.

“Do you guys know where we are?” asked Rachel “All we know is that we’re being kept prisoner by a company called Lettium, they want us because of who we are, our powers” explained Mitchell “do any of your powers still work?” asked Rachel “not that we know of, for all we know we never actually had them” he said. Rachel walked over in Mitchell’s direction “give me your knife” she said. Mitchell then remembered her abilities in Bon Temps, and handed her the knife, she held it over her arm as she looked at her friends “here goes nothing” she said as she sliced across her arm. She held onto her wound and dropped the knife. Rachel removed her hand and watched as the wound healed itself, Jordan leaped at the blood that hit the floor. He began licking it desperately from the ground and when he raised his head everybody could see his fangs were out “I guess we do still have them” said Kyle.

“What if their dead?” asked Jason “Who knows, maybe none of them made it” he added “right now, my priority is to get you two to safety” Clayton whispered “and keep your voice down” he said to Jason as they were creeping down a large hallway. They began turning a corner and Clayton pulled his gun from his belt loop “here we go” Clayton said “WAIT” Jason yelled “just in case we never get another chance” he explained as he slowly walked closer to Clay. The two of them kissed passionately, all Kelly could do was smile. Clayton was taken back by the kiss, as if it had a lasting effect on him. His heart began racing when he heard the sound of a door opening from around the bend, Clayton peeked his head around to see someone he recognized storm down the hallway. It was Logan, Clayton thought about yelling his name, but then he realized that he works for Lettium. He even said while he was in Bon Temps that he was sent to clean up the mess. Clayton could see the door slowly closing so he ran toward it to hold it open. Logan disappeared around the corner so Clayton waved Kelly and Jason over.

Clayton, Kelly and Jason entered the room, all the resided inside were three large metal doors. They were labeled 1,2 and 3 and in small lettering they said ‘escape pod’. This was it, their only chance to escape the ship. The three of them were faced with a difficult decision. Leave this opportunity behind and take a chance in their friends still being alive, or the three of them could go. Disappear somewhere and be a family. “Listen” Clayton interrupted the moments of silence “That book may say things about us, but it doesn’t matter to me. I live in the now, I believe what I feel and what I have right here in front of me” he explained, “this is our chance to leave here and have a chance to survive this, we can beat Lettium”

It was a sad feeling knowing that they may never see their friends ever again, whether they are alive or not, they knew that their friends would want this for them. Clayton walked toward the first door; he pressed the big red button, which sent the door flying open. Inside were four seats and a large glass window. This was the first time any of them had ever seen space, it was beautiful but at the same time terrifying. “Jason, do you know anything about flying these?” asked Clayton “I know that there’s an auto pilot, all we do is choose the destination and it takes us there” he said “I think we owe it to ourselves to survive” Clayton said as he entered the ship and buckled himself into the passenger seat. Jason then entered and sat in the driver seat.

Kelly took a second longer to leave, she began running everything through her head. When she was missing and then was found as a mermaid, when Warren saved her life, when she became Mer queen, when she shot Chris, when she watched Lauren die, when the Critter’s came back, her life has been a roller coaster. Her brother was right, she owed it to herself to survive and prosper. She entered the pod and shut the door behind her.

“Hold on” Jason said, as the pod broke free of the ship. They began floating away from Lettium when Clayton turned to Kelly and held her hand “they would want this for us” he said, “I know” Kelly replied and the three of them disappeared into space. Where they were going, they had no idea. They would start with earth and just do what they do best, stick together and fight for their lives.

Critter Volume 4 Chapter 6: Second Chances

Second Chances

“Somebody help Lauren up!” yelled Warren “FOLLOW ME!” he yelled as the group followed in his direction. Mitchell and Lena carried Lauren along with the group; Traci grabbed the large book off the table and held onto it like it was a football during the most important game of her life. “GO, GO, GO!” Warren yelled again to the group. Another shot was fired; this time the group could hear the bullet hit flesh. Julia hit the floor; the bullet went through her head. For every person that dies it simply means that there is one less person to tell the story of what happened to them once they get out, if they get out.

Warren led the group of distraught and confused survivors into a room where a large steal door swung shut behind them “where can we go?” yelled Clayton. Warren ran to the corner of the room where he began clearing a bunch of junk, underneath was a trap door. He reached underneath his shirt and pulled out a key that was on a chain. He ripped it from his neck and unlocked the door “this leads somewhere safe” he said “let’s go, one by one” the group left leaving Jessica behind bound in chains.

Sweat began dripping from Lauren’s forehead and everything seemed to be closing in on her, the room was spinning. She was leaving a trail of blood behind her, she knew what was coming. Lauren fell to her knees “Lauren!” yelled Lena “no, please just let me lay here” she whispered. Lena sat down with her and rested her head onto her lap. The sounds of banging on the door began filling the room; people were trying to get in the room. “WE HAVE TO GO NOW!” yelled Traci “otherwise none of us will make it” she added “please, go. Just leave me” Lauren whimpered.

At this point, nothing mattered to the group except making her as comfortable as possible. “Lauren, we can do this” said Mitchell “you’re giving me false hope, I’m dying” she choked “it doesn’t matter what happened before Bon Temps, all that matters is that we’re a family now. This place has given us a second chance, a second chance that I don’t deserve. I wasn’t proud of who I was in Bon Temps, I was responsible for Jordan’s death, I lied about Natasha’s death and I kissed Mitchell even though I knew Ashley liked him. I deserve to die here and I’m not taking you all down with me” she said as blood was seeping from the corners of her mouth. “Go” she said as the group said their goodbyes. Ashley, Natasha and Jordan walked toward her “we forgive you Lauren, go in peace” Jordan said. Lauren released a smile; she closed her eyes and then her smile faded. She was still; the group was all too familiar with death to know that she was gone. Tears were shed, but they had to keep moving.

“Down the rabbit hole we go” said Traci, as she was the first to go. Kelly stood opposite Chris who was starring at Lauren’s body with tears running down his face. It was the weirdest feeling standing across from the only man you have ever killed, and for good reason. Chris terrorized Lauren in Bon Temps and tried to kill her. Kelly began walking toward the door, as she passed by Chris “you don’t get to be sad” she whispered in his ear. Chris turned to Kelly who clearly had trouble understanding that he would never actually do something so horrible in real life. “I was programmed to hate her Kelly, I was forced to do what I did” he yelled “in time you will understand that, but for now maybe you could keep your mouth shut” he snapped back. Without hesitation Kelly grabbed the pistol that was firmly tucked inside Warren’s belt “Kelly don’t do this!” yelled Warren “Kelly, what are you doing?” Clayton said while approaching the scene. Kelly had a gun pointed at Chris’s chest “you might all be okay with what’s going on here, but to me it doesn’t make any sense” she yelled “this man, standing in front of me shot Lauren in cold blood and probably would have killed me too, I’m not going to let him do it again”. It was now Ashley decided she needed to step in and calm Kelly down, after all she was there that day. The day Lauren was shot and then disappeared to Faetasia with no answers “Kelly! I know it’s confusing, but you need to try and understand!” she yelled, Ashley looked around the room at the others and they too eventually needed answers. “Those files on us, they are the truth. Lettium designed Bon Temps for one purpose only, to keep our brains active during hyper sleep and to make us experience love, hate, fear, sadness because when we’re experiencing these emotions that’s when they can best monitor us and study how we react under certain situations” Ashley looked at Kelly and she could see her beginning to give in to the truth “trust me, when I first heard this, I didn’t want to believe it. When we were hooked up to those machines, our minds were reset and they programmed us with specific pasts to ultimately lead us through a path of self-discovery. Please, you need to have faith in us, if we have any hope of getting out of here” “So I’m not actually a mermaid?” asked Kelly. Ashley stepped closer and removed the gun from Kelly’s hands and handed it back to Warren “the book will explain to you exactly who you are, but to answer your question Kelly, yes you are still a mermaid, in fact you’re the only one left in existence”.

Warren stepped in “Jessica Burns, she works for Lettium and we found her snooping around a while back and we grabbed her for answers. She was able to tell us a lot about ourselves and why we were chosen, after all she was the one who found us all and brought us here. A lot of what happened to you in Bon Temps was based off of memories that somehow found their way into the dream world. The Critter’s were the creatures that took over earth before we were taken; we all remembered them so clearly that they became a part of Bon Temps. At first it was all memory, some of it implanted and some of it created on it’s own. Then Lettium found a way to send people in and manipulate us into feeling such emotions to allow them to conduct further studies. They lived among us but we just knew them as regular people. Ever wonder why Dayna randomly had a twin turn up that really didn’t care about her sister’s death? Well that’s because she worked for Lettium. She died the first time and was sent back in a second time to finish the job. Dave, the one who turned Jordan, he too worked for Lettium, but his plan back fired when the Werewolves killed him” he explained “well how do you explain the others? The people of Bon Temps? The Werewolves? The Fairies? Everyone else?” asked Clayton “most of them never actually existed, either Lettium created them or our minds did” he explained “and that’s why people kept glitching away” added Lena “something went wrong in their system causing Bon Temps to begin crashing. We were slowly waking up, that’s why people were disappearing. The system was failing and they weren’t real people” said Lena “that’s why Athena left, because when I was put in hyper sleep I was 2 weeks pregnant. My body was put on hold, and she was never born. Only in my mind, I guess” she stated “are you still-“ Mitchell quietly asked “yes” she interrupted “everything is fine, I’m still going to have her” this was the first bit of news that calmed the group “what we all felt in Bon Temps us real, we’re still family. I don’t care what a piece of paper might say about me” said Mitchell as he looked over at the book. “So you guys must have found a way in too right? That’s why Ashley came back?” asked Mitchell “Yes, and it was the hardest thing I ever had to do by the way, but I wanted to do it, I wanted to get you guys out of there. One thing we know for sure is that if you’re unplugged from your machine while you’re still alive in Bon Temps, you’re mind will essentially stay wondering in Bon Temps and your body will become brain dead. In order to escape entirely you need to first die in the alternate reality and then awake here” Ashley said “that’s why I had to kill you, I wanted you to wake up here before Bon Temps crashed and you were all stuck there forever” she added “If Bon Temps crashed and all of your minds were still actively there, than you’re bodies would become nothing by meat here”.

“What about Rachel?” asked Lena “why didn’t she wake up?” and that’s when Clayton stepped in “she can’t die remember? She no doubt healed immediately after and now she’s still there, we need to get her out of there before they shut it down forever” he shouted. “We have one machine, it was an old one that was hidden in a room upstairs. That’s how Ashley was able to come get you all, we sent her through” Warren said “we need to hurry” Warren swung the door open and motioned everybody down. Mitchell placed a blanket over top Lauren’s body. Lena held his hand as the two of them left their friend behind. “If Kelly’s still a mermaid, am I still-“ “yes” Lena interrupted “we can cross that bridge when we get to it” she added. The group headed down the trap door and shut it behind them.

Warren lead the group, he began walking through a dim lite tunnel that the group had been using since they woke up “how big is this thing?” asked Kyle “big enough that they haven’t found us yet” Warren replied “here it is” he pulled back a curtain to a small room where a chair with a computer and cables sat. This is our version of their machine” he said “so, who’s going in?” asked Mitchell “I am” replied Warren “wait, why you?” yelled Lena “I know how to get her out, the golden liquid that we used so many times. I’ll get more and than It will give me what I need to get her out” he said “I can’t think of anything else” Warren walked over to Lena and held her in his arms “I’ll be fine, you and Ashley need to get her once she wakes up” he added “okay” she said with absolutely no enthusiasm “we can do this, let’s bring her home” he said as he took a seat in the chair.

Warren was going into Bon Temps with the impression that it was still there, which for now it is. Going back to Bon Temps would no doubt be emotional for Warren, it almost seemed like he had unfinished business with the place, but he knew that wasn’t the truth. Bon Temps is nothing but a distraction. Warren had been working ever since he awoke to somehow get Lena and the others out and he wasn’t going to leave one behind. As long as he can get out with Rachel before it crashes entirely, he will return safely.

“WHAT DO YOU MEAN A BOMB?” yelled Rachel as she opened the box to see a timer ticking down “why does it say 2 minutes?” Rachel asked “It’s time to leave Rachel” Becky said “you will understand everything once we get out of here, for good” she added “you’re fucking crazy” Rachel said as she began stepping away from the bar. She looked down at her right hand, which still had the bottle of tequila in it, she threw it directly at Becky’s face smashing it and sending her crashing to the floor. Emma and Aaron had little time to react before Rachel grabbed the ticking bomb and ran out the front door. “How do I stop this, how do I stop this” she whispered over and over as she ran through the parking lot. The timer was down to 30 seconds as she tripped over a fallen branch and skidded her knees on the gravel. The cuts instantly healed, remind Rachel that maybe she doesn’t want this life, after all the reason why she is so alone is because of her abilities. They have become more hinder than help. She looked down at the clock, 6 seconds remained “whatever come’s next, I hope I’m with you all” she whispered as images of her friends and loved ones raced through her mind, and then…light was all there was. Bon Temps was gone.

Rachel awoke on the table, men in suits all holding large guns pointing in her direction surrounded her. One of the soldiers ripped the cable from her arm, and to Rachel’s surprise, it healed “who are you” she asked “take her away” a voice from amongst the crowd said. Rachel peered her eyes through to see a familiar face. The man that handed her the folder at he age of 16, the man that tried to kill her in her own home, the man in the suit “it’s you” she whispered. Standing next to him was Dayna “you can call me Curtis” he said. Dayna began laughing as Rachel was carried away. Behind them, Emma, Becky and Aaron began waking up. They tore the wires from their bodies and sat up “Curtis” Becky yelled, “Curtis, we got them” she said “we brought them back, now do what you promised us, let us go” she added. Curtis nodded to a few soldiers who stood idle by. They approached them and raised their weapons “WAIT YOU PROMISED!” Becky yelled “when have I ever been known as trust worthy” he said as they fired, killing the three Bon Temps survivors. “Go ahead and shut down the machines, Bon Temps is no more. If anyone tried to go there, they would be lost forever” he added.

Warren was hooked up, ready to be sent to Bon Temps to retrieve Rachel. Lena leaned in for a kiss and when her lips touched his, she said “this better not be our last kiss”. Warren smiled “I’m gunna bring her home” he said as he nodded to Natasha who was controlling the machine. Natasha then entered a code into the touch screen number pad, which instantly put Warren to sleep. Warren had entered the dream world successfully “here’s hoping we all get a second chance" she added.

Critter Volume 4 Chapter 5 : Reunion

Reunion

It was like he was reborn, re-entering into a world that made absolutely no sense. Mitchell’s eyes had shot open; his pupils had shrunk to the size of dust bunnies. He kept thinking to himself am I dead? Is this heaven? When in fact, he felt more alive than ever before. Thoughts racing through his head like wild fire, he remembered everything that happened, Ashley shot him and he could actually remember dying. It felt somehow peaceful; it wasn’t until seconds had past before he realized there was a mask covering his mouth. It looked to be providing oxygen; he immediately ripped it off his face along with dozens of other cables and cords stuck to his neck and arms. One specific cord was deep into his forearm and Mitch had to pull it out, causing such immense pain though Mitchell always believed that the feeling of pain helped to remind you that you’re alive.

Mitchell felt the cold of the untouched areas of the steal table he was laying on. He sat up from his table; the thoughts of what happened when he was shot were so fresh in his mind, but for some reason he felt like he had been sleeping for months. His eyesight was blurred and he could not, at the moment, hear anything going on around him. Just then, his hearing perked up when he heard a continuous alarm that sounded like an old beat down car horn. He looked around the room when he was distracted by a blurry figure waving him down from across the room. Mitchell rubbed his eyes fiercely and to his surprise it actually helped. He could see clearly enough to see an old friend, Lena. She was waving to him and yelling something with great intensity. Mitchell looked down to see he was wearing a robe, white with fainted light blue stripes. He turned to his right where he saw a big machine next to where he was laying. A big monitor that had numbers, stats and information typed all over it. In the top right corner of the screen he read Subject #24 Mitchell Burns.

Absolutely mesmerized by the material provided by the machine, Mitchell became startled when Lena came to his shoulder shaking him back to reality “WE HAVE TO GO, NOW!” she yelled as she pulled Mitchell off the bed to begin running. Mitchell fell weak in the knees and began puking on the floor “we do not have time for this right now Mitch, shake it off” she yelled again. Lena ducked to the ground nearly kneeling in Mitchells vomit when she heard a gun shot coming from above “THEIR HERE!” she yelled Mitchell looked ahead to see others running in the same direction, he couldn’t quite make anyone out “I am not letting you die here” Lena said as she gave Mitchell a slap in the face to snap him back to his senses “follow me, you got it?” she said “let’s go” she whispered as Lena began crawling past several of the same steal beds that Mitchell was laying in. Mitchell aimlessly followed when they came to a halt “ready to run?” Lena asked “I think so” a confused Mitchell answered quietly “GO” she yelled as the two of them latched arms and bolted for the same exit the others went too. Lena swung around and punched a large red button attached to the wall, which made the clearly bulletproof doors slide closed and lock. Lena looked over at Mitchell who was obviously having a difficult time soaking up all that just happened. Lena dove in for a deep and meaningful hug which lead to her grabbing his face “finally” she whispered “follow me, you’re gunna wanna say hi to a few people” she said with a slight smile.

Rachel sat in the bar, windows drawn shut and doors locked. It was definitely possible that the creatures surrounding the place could bust in at any moment if she made any kind of noise. She didn’t seem to care as she sat at the bar surrounded by her three new friends, rum, whiskey and tequila. Rachel couldn’t possibly handle what had just happened and she knew that she wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon. She thought the best answer was to get drunk, so she did just that. All this time she thought of her ability as a gift but now it was nothing but a curse. It was like she was stuck in hell forced to live out the rest of her life in a world where all of her friends have been killed and she was completely alone. Just then she heard a loud knocking on the front door “HELLO!?” the person yelled “PLEASE GOD LET ME IN!” they yelled again. Rachel stood from the bar stool and stumbled toward the curtain shadowing the glass door, she peeked through and she saw Emma. Probably the last person she would ever expect to see, but it was nice to know that she wasn’t alone. Rachel then saw Aaron and Becky fighting off a few Critters in the background “ARE YOU GUNNA LET US IN OR NOT?” she yelled as Rachel swung the door open. They piled in and Rachel slammed the door behind them “where have you three been? I didn’t even know you had survived the Tall Man’s forest” she added “Well Rachel, we’re here to give you your ticket out of here” Becky said as she unbuckled the two front straps on her satchel. She then pulled out a wide box “what is that?” she asked, “this is a nuclear bomb” she said casually “and it’s for you”.

Lena and Mitchell passed through another door where they could hear the sounds of what seemed like large machines at work. As Mitchell looked around at his environment he could see that it seemed to be state of the art “where are we?” Mitch asked “long story” she replied “are we alive?” he replied “for the first time in a long time, yes we are” she explained. The walls were paper white with blue florescent light bulbs embedded into the floors. The alarm was still going in the distance, but they had passed through many rooms and at this point the sound had mostly faded. Lena walked into a room that had the exact opposite of state of the art white walls, it was grungy and dirty. The floors were stained with what looked like oil spills “almost there” she whispered as she came across a large hole in the middle of the wall that when they looked down, they couldn’t see the bottom. There was a ladder attached to the wall going down “you’re gunna want to hold on tight to the ladder, it’s nasty fall to the bottom” she said as she swung around and began climbing down.

Lena and Mitchell had been climbing down the ladder for 10 minutes now and Lena thought it was weird that he had not yet asked a single question “you don’t seem to be very curious as to where what this is or how you’re even alive” she said “nothing surprises me anymore, I’ve personally seen Ashley die twice now and I really have nothing left” he replied. Lena came to the bottom as she hopped onto the ground, the smell was awful and was clearly coming to the giant mounds of waste and garbage that was being mechanically sorted and burned all around them. Mitchell took a good look at Lena; she was wearing a jumpsuit with a gas mask around her neck “what are the masks for?” Mitch asked, “to blend in” she replied. Someone shot his or her head out from a crack in the wall “c’mon” he yelled. Mitchell followed Lena in his direction “the last time I saw someone wearing a mask of sort, it was my FiancĂ©” he added “I know, we sent her” she said as she peeled back a dirty old curtain that revealed a rather large warehouse with piles upon piles of compacted garbage. He saw a large group of people standing in a group wearing the same masks Lena had with her. In between the group of masked people he could see familiar faces.

Clayton, Kelly, Kyle and Lauren stood together with frightened looks on their faces “you’re alive?” he whispered “yes Mitch, we’re alive” a familiar voice told him through a mask. The person approached and removed his mask. Warren stood before him in the flesh, and one by one they all removed their masks and joining them were Jordan, Alex, Natasha, Jason and Jenna. Once they were all revealed the room fell silent. Kelly ran to Warren and fell into his arms crying, “I’ve missed you so much” she whimpered. Lauren looked through the crowd where she made eye contact with Jordan, who shot her a wink with a slight smile. Lauren didn’t know how to react but she was overwhelmed with emotion once she saw Lena and Warren. She then stopped in her tracks, Natasha stood in front of her “it’s okay” she whispered and gave Lauren a hug. She wondered to herself How is this okay? Clayton was kneeling on the ground where him and his sister were crouched, he stood up and a tear fell from his face. He saw Jason once again who was smiling at him from across the room. The two of them met in the middle with a long hug, they released and Clayton wasted no time “I owe you something” he said as he dove in for a kiss. It was a bittersweet reunion that made absolutely no sense.

It was then that the group noticed that there were three other’s that kept their masks on “what’s with these three?” Mitch asked “well this is where it’s going to get complicated for ya’ll” said Warren as he was referring to Mitchell, Lauren, Kyle, Clayton and Kelly who had just joined them “go ahead, remove the masks” Warren asked. The three faces that were revealed were no friend of there’s. Julia, Chris and Traci became face to face with the people they terrorized forever while they were in Bon Temps.

Mitchell could openly admit that he has fantasized about killing Traci for as long as he could remember, but the hate in his heart was calmed by the voice of an angel “their not who you think they are Mitchell” Ashley said who approached from behind “Ashley, you shot me” he whispered “you were the one in the biker suit” added Lauren “nothing was as it seemed, in Bon Temps” explained Ashley. She then tossed a bible thick binder on a dust-covered table “the truth is inside here, the truth about each and every one of us” she explained “give me the condensed version” demanded Kelly “we were nothing but experiments, this entire time we have been in a dream state. When you awoke, and ripped off all those cords attached to a machine, well that was keeping us believing that what was happening was real, all while they were conducting experiments, studying us. Our emotions, our energy, our gene’s” she explained, “we’re all of the utmost importance to this company because we’re one of a kind. Each and every one of us is of a different species that no longer exists and they have been harvesting us for years monitoring our organisms to see if they can create more, of us” she explained “everything you know is a lie” Ashley added “if this is true than why don’t I remember anything” asked Clayton “the machines wiped our memories clean, although I don’t think it was on purpose. Just one of the side effects of what they did to us”.

Mitchell squinted his eyes at Ashley, all he wanted to do was embrace her in his arms and go back to who they were “what makes you such an expert?” asked Mitchell “well that’s where I come in” a voice interrupted from a dark corner of the room “I don’t think we’ve been introduced, I’m Jessica Burns and I’m the reason why you were all brought here in the first place” She was sitting cross-legged facing the wall. Her hands were bound in chains, there were dirty food scrapes laying around her, it was clear she had been held against her will “we captured Jessica a month ago” said Warren “she works for Lettium, the company that captured us. Her job was to locate us and bring us in. Needless to say she succeeded” he said “so let me get this straight, all of you only remember what happened in Bon Temps? Than why isn’t Traci trying to kill me right now?” he said while starring into her dark blue eyes “Lettium lead Traci to believe that she hated you all, when she awoke several weeks ago she was released of the hatred she felt for you, because it wasn’t real. You however, still feel love for Ashley because it was real. You love her, Mitchell” explained Warren “how long have you all been down here?” Mitchell asked “we all came back at different times, when you die in Bon Temps you awake here. Natasha, Jason, Alex, Jordan and I have been watching closely to see if anymore of you awaken, and when you do we take you here before they get to you. Lettium is run mostly by machines, however the humans who do work here are a greater evil than we ever faced in Bon Temps” Mitchell couldn’t believe it, none of them could “so this is it? You’re all that’s left? All the people that died in Bon Temps and passed through here, and only you are left standing?” Warren knew that this information would come as a shock, but this was nothing yet “there is something you should all know” he looked around at the remaining survivors “we have been in what’s called hyper sleep, a state in which our body is essentially put on hold, we don’t age or grow in anyway. This is how you all looked when Lettium took you. However, we have been asleep for nearly 53 years and when we left an event took place on earth that wiped out 80% of the population” he explained “what event?” asked Clayton “Lettium created a monster and somehow it got released and it expanded. Within days the earth was in turmoil. Their called Blood Drifter’s, we knew them in Bon Temps as” he took a breath when Mitchell took over “Critter’s” he said. “You said Earth was in turmoil? Well then where are we?” Kelly quietly added, “We’re in space, 800,000 kilometers from what we once knew as earth”.

Just then a shot was fired, everyone looked around to see if it hit anyone. Lauren gasped, then she hit the floor “fuck, this can’t be good” she said as she held the wound on her lower chest “THEIR DOWN HERE!” someone in the distance yelled. The survivors had been discovered.

Critter Volume 4 Chapter 4 : Apocalypse

Apocalypse

Silver, brand new motorcycle came speeding down the highway. Not another car in sight, yet the bike was speeding in one continuous straight line as if it had somewhere to be fast. Whoever was driving was wearing a long black leather biking suit complete with a sleek black helmet that covered their entire face. The bike came to a complete stop when they reached the sign that read “Bon Temps” the person gazed down the road leading to the town, and they seemed to take a deep breath as if they were returning to some horrible place.

“Who the fuck is Curtis?” yelled Kelly “I have no idea, but I’m sick of this whole glitching thing. Mitch are you okay?” asked Lauren “I think so, nothing makes sense anymore. If he wasn’t my brother than who was he? What did he mean by plumber?” Mitch took a second to think when he raised his head to his remaining friends “guys, I think maybe it’s time for us to discuss something” he said “discuss what?” asked Kelly “the possibility of a higher power being at work here, causing these horrible things to happen, guiding us in a certain direction” he explained “I mean Dayna said that glitching was caused because the subject never existed and than Logan said he was sent here to make me fall in love? What the hell is that supposed to mean?” he yelled as he became frustrated and ran his fingers through his hair “wait” whispered Rachel as the group turned their attention to the girl who had been sobbing over Lena in the corner since they had arrived. “Curtis, I’ve heard that name before” Rachel began to search through her memories “I heard Dayna talking about him once at the bar she said she was sick of taking orders from him, she said Curtis I’m certain of it!” she yelled “that doesn’t really help!” yelled Kelly “how about you just have one of your visions and take a peak into the future or something” Kelly said pointing at Mitchell “I can’t control when I get visions, they haven’t been happening lately” he replied “maybe it’s because we don’t have much of a future left” Lauren said.

Kyle sat with a towel covering his waist on a tree stump erupting from the ground “when you say you’ve been looking for me, you mean what exactly? He asked the three strangers who for some reason knew who he was “well, this is the difficult part, we were sort of sent here to” Becky placed air quotes around her head “retrieve you” she explained “all of you”. Kyle clearly looked puzzled at the information he was given so he opened his mouth to obtain more, when he felt a sudden painful pressure coming from his chest. He looked down to see a large spear sticking through his body, blood began dripping down his chest and onto the white towel the group so gracefully offered him. Just like most things in Bon Temps, it happened so quickly. Kyle turned around to see Aaron releasing his grip from the spear “I’m really sorry about that” he said “you’re doing us a big favor” Emma added as she walked toward Kyle who had now fallen off the stump and on to his knee’s “don’t try to shift, it’s too late now” Emma added as Kyle fell to the dirt while panting up sand in his last couple of breaths “good luck” Becky whispered as she placed her food on his back and yanked out the spear. Kyle was dead and for some reason Becky, Aaron and Emma seemed pleased “on to the next one” said Emma.

“There’s a boat” said Lauren “on the peer, tied to the dock. It’s big enough to house all of us for the time being. Those things are no doubt blocking all the exits to the town, we need a quick escape and I can’t think of anything else” she added “that might just work” said Clayton as he grabbed a permanent marker from Kindred’s desk and began writing on the wall, a map. He drew a direct path to the beach, which lead directly to the boat. “Is it your boat?” asked Clayton “No, it was Warrens actually” she explained, “alright guys, let’s stay together and move quickly and quietly” directed Mitchell as he clearly had something else to say “as long as we’re in that area, can we stop at the bar quickly? I wanted to grab something before we leave this place, I may never see my bar again” he explained. The group loaded up on weapons and headed for the car “I hope Kyle made it somewhere safe” added Rachel.

The group could hear the screeching horrifying sounds of the Critter’s taking Bon Temps by storm. They were driving down an old country road approaching a path that lead to the bar. The car stayed parked on the side of the road as Mitchell ran through a small patch of woods to arrive safety and un-seen at the back entrance of the bar. “I’m coming with you” demanded Lauren, Mitchell nodded as he knew he could use the back up, who knew how many of those things were surrounding the bar. “Hurry back, and then we can finally leave this place” said Clayton as he waited at the car with Kelly and Rachel.

Mitchell and Lauren headed through the woods and came across the back door to the bar, Mitch lifted up a rock placed a few feet away from the entrance where a key was hidden underneath “nice hiding spot” said Lauren as Mitchell shot her a smirk “what did you want to get anyway?” Lauren asked as Mitchell busted through the door and ran to his office. He opened up his door and looked at the picture of all his friends and family on the opening day of Mitch’s Bar and Grill “that? You wanted a picture?” she asked with anger “no” he said as he picked up the picture and put it on the ground revealing a safe that is built into the wall hidden behind the photo, he entered the combination and popped the door open “I came for this” he said as he pulled out his Crystal Ball “we might need this” he explained.

Clayton was laying on the hood of the car with a piece of straw hanging from his mouth “these clouds are weird” he said as Rachel poked her head out of the back seat window to take a look “Clayton get in the car, we’re leaving as soon as their back” said Rachel. Just then Kelly also exited the car to stare at the clouds “no really, something’s wrong with these clouds” Clayton said again “Rachel then got out of the car to see for herself. It seemed like the clouds, along with everything else around here lately were glitching. They kept flickering in and out of the sky “what the fuck?” yelled Kelly “why is it doing that?” she asked “It makes no sense, until now I thought only people had been doing this and now the clouds too?” They looked around at their surroundings and it seemed that the tree’s and the road itself was also flickering “Clay I’m scared!” yelled Kelly “It’s alright, get in the car” he said.

They then heard some sort of vehicle speeding down the road in their direction “I haven’t seen another person in hours!” yelled Clayton “be careful, we both know that no one can be trusted” said Rachel as she stood on the opposite side of the truck. Kelly stood leaning up against the car as Clayton walked with a gun in hand toward the person approaching on a silver motorcycle. The person hit the breaks once they had reached a close distance and put their bike in neutral “can we help you?” asked Clayton a moment of silence passed through the air between Clayton and the masked biker before they pulled a long shot gun out from the right side of the bike. Clayton had but seconds to react, but the biker was too quick. They fired twice in Clayton’s direction sending him flying with blood splattering. Clayton hit the pavement dead. Kelly couldn’t even react at what had just happened to his one and only brother, she let out a scream and looked at the gunman. Kelly could see the barrel was now pointed in her direction and for a brief moment she accepted her fate “do it” she whispered as the trigger was once again pulled sending Kelly flying towards the car smashing her window. Blood splattered up the car and almost reached Rachel’s face as she was screaming for her friends. Rachel looked to see that Kelly and Clayton were dead in front of her. Rachel ducked behind the car and slowly began crawling down into the ditch to try and escape the gunman. She could hear footsteps stomping on broken glass headed in her direction. The fear of what was about to happen caused adrenaline to flow through her veins like she’s never felt before. The shooter stood behind Rachel as she crawled away, and before they pulled the trigger they turned their head in the opposite direction as if they took no pleasure in what was about to happen. The shot echoed in the forest, startling a small flock of birds out of the bushes. Rachel took a bullet to the back of the head; the shooter took one look down the path leading to the bar and began walking. Whoever it was, they were here for one thing and one thing only, to take the lives of each and every person without mercy.

Lauren and Mitchell had gotten what they came for and were leaving the bar when they saw a Critter standing outside the door they came in “on the count of three I’m going to open the door and you blast it away” said Mitch “one” they looked in each other’s eyes with the level of trust one would have when first learning to ride a bike with their parents “two” and bam. They heard a gun shot coming from outside the bar. They looked through the glass to see that someone standing in a helmet had shot the creature. The sounds would probably attract more in their direction so they had to move fast. Lauren ran out of the back door “who are you?” she asked as the gunman raised the shotgun once again and blasted Lauren right in the neck “LAUREN!” Mitchell yelled as he caught her as she was falling and fell with her “no” he cried, “Who are you, why are you doing this?” Mitchell yelled as he laid his dead friend on the ground. Mitchell stood up and prepared to blast whoever was standing in front of him away but instead, they beat him to it and fired twice into Mitchell’s chest. He could literally feel the life escaping with every breath. Mitchell began bleeding out while he was leaning up against his bar. He reached for Lauren’s hand and gripped tightly as he watched the unknown person walk towards him. Just then they took off their helmet, it was a woman with long blonde hair. Mitchell kept blinking to help make out who the person was, and when he finally saw her he just felt like giving up entirely. Ashley stood in front of Laurens dead body and Mitchell as he fought to survive. Ashley was crying heavily as she looked into Mitchell’s eyes “hi” she said. She then raised the gun to eye level, pointing the double barrel directly at the side of her head. Ashley closed her eyes and clenched her teeth, and then she pulled the trigger. Ashley’s body hit the floor. It was clear that nothing made sense so Mitchell just decided to lay face down on the ground and simply die so he closed his eyes cleared his mind and did just that.

It happened quickly this time, as if the bigger the injury the faster the cells worked to regenerate. Within a minute and a half Rachel was once again gasping for air. She rolled over, blood all in her hair and all over the ground. She stood up and realized that whoever the gunman was probably didn’t know that she could heal. Rachel saw her best friend Clayton and his little sister Kelly dead on the road, she couldn’t bare the sight. She ran down the path where she came across the helmet that the shooter was wearing. She looked over in the direction of the bar where she saw bodies. She began walking towards them and then she saw them, Lauren, Mitchell and Ashley all lying dead on the ground, Ashley was wearing the biker suit. Rachel turned her head away from the sight while wiping away tears. I was then she realized she was alone. Everyone was dead and she was stuck in Bon Temps with hundreds of those creatures surrounding the town. Rachel is the only known survivor or Bon Temps.

Critter Volume 4 Chapter 3 : Ghost Town

Ghost Town

Lauren saw what she saw and although it was hard to grasp, she knew it was done. Lena was gone forever and those things were swarming the house. Mitchell was dragging Lauren in tears toward the back door. Rachel came running back into the house “Their everywhere! There’s no way out!” she cried. Mitchell was holding a sobbing Lauren in his arms as he was trying desperately to think of a way to escape. Time was running out.

Kyle stood, out of breath with a racing heart, of all the things he’s been through the thought of this being the death of him was more unbelievable than what was happening. Kyle felt a slight tickle on the end of his nose, a housefly landed quietly as if he too was scared and wanted to find safety. It was then Kyle knew what to do “I got this” he said “I’ll shift” he whispered. The group turned to look at Kyle as he closed his eye and took a deep breath “I’ll distract them and meet up with you guys after” Kyle whispered as he shifted into the fly. He buzzed around in one spot before he flew out the crack in the window. He flew over top of the creatures that were investigating the outside of the house to find a way inside. Once he flew over the crowd he turned back around and shifted back into himself. Kyle fell to the ground naked; he stood up and yelled “HEY! OVER HERE!” he screamed as the Critter’s begun looking in his direction “let’s do this” he whispered as they begun storming in his direction. One of the creatures actually almost reached Kyle before he began running; he turned into his most comfortable form, a cougar, and bolted into the forest while most of the Critter’s followed.

“Where’s Lena?” asked Rachel as she watched Lauren cry in Mitchells arms “we have to go now!” yelled Logan “please don’t tell me” Rachel could sense the tone of the room “no” she whispered. Lauren looked up at her friend Rachel as her shoulders sank; she stood up and walked over to her. The two girls embraced in a hug “I know, I know” whispered Lauren as the two of them cried for their friend. Rachel’s thoughts were all over the place, but there was no time to try and piece it all together. Kyle had bought the group some time and they were going to take it “we need to leave, come on!” yelled Mitchell as Logan and him swung the back door open.

Mitchell had his hands raised in the air like a cocked gun with the safety off. He was prepared to blast away anything that got in their way “Lauren! I could use your help!” he yelled. Lauren was holding Rachel’s hand as they ran along side Logan, she could see one of the Critter’s running in their direction so she raised her hand and incinerated it. Lauren’s abilities were always stronger when she was emotional and clearly Mitchell’s had recently evolved which made the two of them unstoppable. The four of them came across a vehicle covered in a tarp behind Laurens house “It’s Chevy’s!” she yelled “it was left here after the funeral, the keys should be in it!” she yelled “so many god damn funerals” whispered Mitchell as he ripped the tarp off and opened the drivers seat. The keys were luckily in the ignition so he started it as the group crawled in “GO!” yelled Lauren as they just peeled away in time; the Critter’s were hot on their trail.

“It’s quiet out there, Clay” whispered Kelly as she turned to her brother who was laying beside her in Jordan’s old sleeping grounds. “I’ll go check it out, we can’t be certain” he whispered “we’ve been down here for hours Clay, they probably moved on. We have to see if everyone’s okay” she said “alright, let’s go” Clayton said as he pushed open the floorboards and grabbed his sister’s hand to pull her up. The two of them peeked outside and saw that it was clear and quiet; it seemed too quiet for Claytons liking. They opened the front door; still hand in hand the two of them made their way across the front lawn. “Where too?” asked Clayton “we can start by checking Lauren’s house” explained Kelly. The two of them looked around to see that the neighbors house along with the houses down the road were completely deserted. After all that just happened and not a person in sight, seemed weird to them.

“Do you hear that?” asked Kelly “It’s a car!” yelled Kelly. Clayton stood in front of his sister to give protection; in his mind nothing was safe until proven so. The car came speeding down the road sliding on gravel and spitting mud in every direction. The small four doors Honda came to a screeching top when it reached Jordan’s house. Clayton was nervous, until he saw Mitchell’s face in the passenger seat.

Driving past each house, it became clearer that the events that had occurred caused a town wide evacuation “I’m guessing no one else’s phone works?” asked Kelly “nope” replied the group. The mood in the car was extremely gloomy. They had lost so many people, and there was no one in sight for miles. Bon Temps was a ghost town. “Mitch where are you taking us?” asked Rachel. The group pulled up to a old homey looking cabin far into the forest. “This is the only safe place I know, we can hold up here and load up on weapons until we come up with a plan” replied Mitchell “this is Kindred’s place isn’t it?” asked Lauren “yes” Mitchell replied as he was immediately reminded of Ashley.

Kyle flew over the town of bon Temps in the form of a falcon. This was a new species Kyle had never become before but it felt good. He was looking for his friends as he came across a small fire that was lit between the trees below him. Kyle swooped lower to come closer to the commotion. He perched on a branch as he examined the area. Beside the fire was an old gray Camaro with each door propped open. One person’s feet were sticking out of the back seat as if they were sleeping. Someone else was digging through the trunk. Just then Kyle saw someone else approach from underneath him, it was a tall man with blonde hair and was wearing a hooded sweater. “Your back” the woman sifting through the trunk was pleasantly surprised “what did you bring us?” the woman with long curly brown hair asked “I hope it’s actual food this time” another woman said from the back seat of the car. She slid out from the back seat and smirked at her friend. The woman stood up from the car and began walking, but then she froze “what is it?” said the man “I can sense something, very close to us” she said “it’s the shifter” she said as she looked in Kyle’s direction “THERE!” she yelled. When the woman pointed at Kyle, he felt powerless. This woman was no doubt a supernatural. Kyle fell off the branch and shifted back into himself as he hit the ground.

Kyle opened his eyes, he felt dizzy. He half expected to be chained up or gagged or even dead. Instead he was propped up on a lawn chair with an ice pack on his forehead “I’m sorry about that” the woman who had discovered him explained “long story short, I have the ability to discover and clutch others abilities, I could sense you there and I really didn’t mean for you to fall from the tree, naked. My name is Emma and these are my friends Becky and Aaron and you must be Kyle?” the woman said, “we’ve been looking for you”.

Rachel sat with a blank stare on a coffee table where she was continuously pricking her finger with a tack she found in the wall, each prick healing within seconds. Clayton stood with Mitchell as they sifted through the weapons they found to load them with ammunition. Kelly was walking with her arms crossed looking at photographs hanging from the walls. Lauren sat on the couch with the palms of her hands pressed against her mouth, still shocked at the death of her best friend Lena.

“Hey Mitch, if what Dayna said about the glitching is true, if those people never really existed than how does Athena disappearing make any sense? I mean we saw Lena go through the pregnancy, she gave birth to a little girl remember?” she said “I know just as much as you Lauren” he said “nothing makes sense anymore” Lauren said as her voice began cracking with tears “sometimes, I can still hear the screams of all the people we’ve killed and for what? For this place? I doesn’t seem worth it anymore” she cried “AND DO YOU KNOW WHAT I THINK’S PRETTY MESSED UP?” yelled Logan startling everyone “that the word red is in Kindred’s name and she was a little old lady who lived in a cabin in the woods who dated a lumberjack and was hunted by a wolf, I mean HELLO! Little Red Riding Hood anyone?!” Logan yelled as he paced around with a hand gun “who told you that?” asked Mitchell “WELL IT CERTAINLY WASN’T ANYTHING IN THAT MAGICAL BOX DAD LEFT YOU” Logan began laughing “Logan give me the gun” said Mitch as he began feeling nervous “who are you?” asked Kelly as she began backing away from him “you wanna know who I am? Well my dear sweet Kelly I am the plumber” he yelled “the guy that gets sent in to do all the dirty work while everyone collects the reward” Clayton looked over at Kelly with nervous eyes, the gun in Logan’s hands was making everyone begin to react. “Well, I’m sick of it all” added a sweaty, shaking Logan “I’m sick of being the guy who pretends to be someone’s brother, who brings him a box of junk and pretends it has meaning! Well it didn’t Mitchell!” he yelled as he pointed the gun at him “I put that engraving on the ring, it was me! I did it so that you would fall in love and-“ just then, Logan glitched “fuck” he whispered, “he’s pissed” said Logan “who’s pissed!? LOGAN WHO?” screamed Mitchell. Logan stared back at Mitchell as the glitching began getting worse “Curtis” he whispered and then he was gone.
