Critter Volume 2 Chapter 1

It was a perfect day in Bon Temps. The smell of swamp waters and swarms of pine tree’s comforted Tyson as he drove along side the highway. Patsy Cline greatest hits played on the beat down stereo of his Chevrolet. Everyone always teased him about his dirty old wheels but he liked the way it made him look, a working man.

Air flew through the window like a high-powered fancy construction fan. Tyson stuck his head out the window, letting it flow through his sandy blonde hair, attempting to dry the sweat.

As he pulled his head back in the window, two men standing in the middle of the road greeted him. Tyson slammed on the breaks, squealing to the gravel side of the dim lit back road. “I DON’T KNOW IF I CAN DO THIS!” Tyson recognized Jordan as he screamed. He looked different, flushed. “YOU wanted this! YOU made me do this to you NOW FEED!” the man standing opposite Jordan was chanting.

Jordan turned to Tyson, his eyes piercing with the flowing color of blood red. Two porcelain white fangs shot out of his mouth. With what seemed like a fraction of a second, Jordan was clutching the door to his truck. Tyson let out a scream as Jordan bent back his head all the while revealing his neck. His veins pulsed. Jordan then lost control. “THIS IS WHO YOU ARE NOW!” Jordan’s friend watched with a dark smirk.

It was the most beautiful sound. Try to imagine a collaboration of every mesmerizing sound you have ever heard. Lauren stood side by side with the parents who’s daughter was murdered right in front of her eyes a few days prior. They starred at Julia like deer in headlights. Her voice sounded like the soft waves of a quiet beach, the smell of Lauren’s mother’s perfume she wore as she tucked her into bed as a child.

Warren saw Julia from outside the bar singing, I should have known, he thought to himself. There was no time to waste. He ran into the bar and walked through the crown of familiar faces spacing out to the sound. Warren knew all about Sirens, their song was meant to draw in its victims. Once she has them, well, she would do what she would with them. The legend of the Sirens sais that she would lead the hypnotized people into the waters where they would drown, and the strong would be turned into one of them. It was unclear of the intentions, but none of this mattered as Warren grabbed Julia by the throat and throwing her through the glass window of the bar.

Julia rolled around in the shards of glass. She stood up and ran at Warren, full force. The town folk were still under the effects of her song. It took time for it to wear off. She jumped up through the window, swinging on a chandelier and wrapping her legs around Warren’s neck. She laughed as she sent him flying backwards smashing a table and two chairs.

Warren stood on his feet fast, these things move quickly. Julia lunged at him again but this time Warren grabs her ankles and swung her into the next room where she destroyed the pool table and landed in the jukebox leaving it in pieces. She stood up, battered and bruised, and began singing. Warren dropped to his knee’s holding his hand against his ears. Julia took this opportunity to disappear. She knew this fight couldn’t be won alone.

Warren stood up, looked at the almost unrecognizable bar he once knew. He ran over to Lena and carried her out to his truck. He drove away leaving the wrest of the town awakening from their trance. Mitchell just about fainted when he saw the damage. “EVERYONE OUT!” he yelled as they all ran. Lauren approached “can I help?” she asked “LEAVE!” he yelled back. They all decided to give Mitch his space, nothing made sense, why was the bar in this shape? And why does no one remember? Dayna, Natasha’s parents and Lauren stepped over broken glass and left the bar.

Tears fell down Mitchell’s face as he looked around at the only thing that meant anything to him in his life. His bar was destroyed. He stepped over by the broken table where there lay a wallet. Mitchell grabbed the wallet and looked at the I.D. With anger he threw the wallet down onto the ground. It read, Warren James Laddy. Mitchell grabbed his coat and left the bar looking for blood.

Lauren walked back to her house down the road. She left the car parked for the night because she felt as if she needed a nice walk after everything Chris has put her through. She kept thinking to herself, what kind of mess is she going to walk into when she got home. She saw the light on coming from her bedroom. Chris was clearly waiting up for her, she could see him painting on his easel. It was nice to see a sweet side to him. It reminded her of what she fell for in the first place. She walked in the front door “CHRIS! I’m ho-AHHH” she let’s out a scream. Chris comes running down the stairs to see written on the wall in blood red paint I SAW WHAT YOU DID.
